In December 2022, I had the opportunity to attend the Salesforce Data Cloud ISV Workshop at the iconic Salesforce Tower in San Francisco. Hosted by Salesforce’s Emerging Technology team, the workshop offered a full day of hands-on guidance, business strategy, and technical deep dives into the future of data-driven applications.

The agenda was packed with insight:

  • Exploring the business opportunities tied to Salesforce Data Cloud

  • A technical introduction to CDP capabilities

  • Hands-on mapping exercises to align application data with Data Cloud standards

  • Support on submitting applications for Security Review and AppExchange listing

Under the guidance of Salesforce experts like Jared Thilenius and Darrin Brocca, I learned how to architect apps that take full advantage of Salesforce’s real-time, unified customer data platform. The workshop emphasized not just building with Data Cloud, but also thinking strategically about how ISV apps would be distributed, scaled, and marketed through the AppExchange ecosystem.

As a result of this workshop, I successfully designed, built, and deployed my first Salesforce Data Cloud  application: the Visit App, now live and available for free download on the AppExchange.

Attending the Data Cloud Workshop gave me a deeper appreciation for how data, integration, and real-time engagement strategies are transforming business applications — and it equipped me with the tools to deliver future-proof solutions on Salesforce’s platform.
